Messi insists he did not attempt to fool anybody with his choice to retire, believing it was the proper call to create in the time.
“I am extremely grateful [to return to the national team],” Messi told Television Publica.
“But I didn’t deceive anyone when I retired, I felt that.
“We were really disappointed with what had happened, but after that I believed improved.
“I had a conversation together with the Paton [Bauza] and the men and women also accompanied me by means of it.”
Nevertheless, the 29-year-old is really a doubt for Argentina’s subsequent qualifier against Venezuela due to injury.
“I do not know if I will play against Venezuela,” he stated. “I have a great deal of discomfort in my groin but I wanted to be right here after the disturbance I caused.”
